November 2019 With Sonoma and Napa Valley on the doorstep, there’s no shortage of vineyards around San Francisco. My favourite was La Rochelle Winery, from its striking appearance – think old barn crossed with contemporary space, to its lovely sprawling garden complete with croquet, delicious Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, and hospitable staff. While away an afternoon tasting wines in their garden and then take a bottle with you to enjoy a picnic dinner (see ‘Baked Goods’ and ‘Travel Tips - Fresh Produce Stalls’) amongst the breath-taking scenery. If it's sparkling wine you are after, take a trip to Korbel Champagne Cellars where you will find sparkling wine for every occasion, from traditional to summery rose, to warming red.
